TOOL Catalog Now Available Via Digital Service Providers
August 2, 2019TOOL's entire recorded catalog has been made available on digital and streaming services. All four previous studio LPs — "Undertow", "Ænima", "Lateralus" and "10,000 Days" — and the band's 1992 debut EP, "Opiate", are available. TOOL was one of the last holdouts in the music business to keep all its music out of the digital realm.
"Our obsession with, and dream of, a world where BetaMax and Laser Disc rule has ended," says singer Maynard James Keenan. "Time for us to move on. But never fear. There’s a brand new thing we think you’re really gonna dig. It's called digital downloads and streaming. Get ready for the future, folks!"
The digital debut comes as anticipation for TOOL's fifth album, "Fear Inoculum" (RCA),builds. On the outfit's recent North American and European tours, the Los Angeles-based band projected the album's release date, August 30, from the stage, while playing two new songs from the forthcoming collection: "Invincible" and "Descending".
Last month, TOOL's legendary 1991 demo tape, titled "72826", surfaced on YouTube, Apple Music, Google Play and Pandora. It marked the first time a TOOL release had been available to stream online and led to speculation that the rest of the catalog would follow.
The name of the new TOOL disc was unveiled Monday morning. A first single, track list and artwork for "Fear Inoculum" are still to be announced.
